ABOUT DAPOLI

Dapoli is a wonderful city having cool & pleasant climate. This is famous as a Mahabaleshwar of Kankan. Geographically Dapoli is northwest Tahasil of the district Ratnagiri. Dapoli is the head-quarter of this Tahasil & it is well connected by road to rest of the world.​

Due to cool & pleasant atmosphere British selected this place for their military base. Hence it is named as Camp Dapoli which comprises of small villages viz Mauje Dapoli, Dapoli, Gimhavane, Jalagav and Jogele.
This is a land of epoch makers. Many educationalists, freedom-fighters, social reformers, literary fellow, poets, scientists, industrialists had born in the land of Dapoli.​

In the year 1972 Dr Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Agricultural University was established in Dapoli. This strengthens the education culture of Dapoli & given new facet of research & extension.​

Apicultural University brought Dapoli on world map, since last decade Dapoli becomes hot destination on tourism map. The thick greenery and reach & varied flora n Fauna attracts nature lovers, botanists & researchers.​

Well developed infra structural facilities provide luxurious amenities in local feel. Local food Alphanso, Cashew, fishes & folk culture adds more taste & blend to your stay. In future Dapoli will be hot destination on the tourist & educational globe.



How To Reach Dapoli

By Air:

Ratnagiri Domestic Airport located about 127 kilometers from Dapoli is the nearest airfield from this coastal hill station.

By Rail:

Khed Railway Station located at the distance of 29 kilometers from Dapoli is the nearest railhead that can be availed for reaching Dapoli via train. Khed is a stoppage on the Konkan Railway Line and provides connectivity with several major cities including Mumbai, Panvel, Pune, Ratnagiri, Chiplun, Sawantwadi, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Veraval, Goa, Udupi, Mangalore, Ernakulam, Trivandrum, etc through a number of regular trains. Some of the most noteworthy trains that stop at Khed are; Dadar Sawantwadi Spl, Ernakulam Ltt Spl, Ltt Kochuveli Spl, Ahmedabad Madgaon Spl, Mandovi Exp, Matsyagandha Exp, Veraval Exp, Ratnagiri Pass etc. To reach Khed from Dapoli and vice versa one can use the easily available local transports such as auto rickshaw, shuttle, and local buses and so on.

By Road:

Reaching Dapoli by road is the most convenient and the best mode of commuting to this Konkani hill resort. The Mumbai Goa National Highway No 17 and NH 66 connect Dapoli with Mumbai while SH 70, 96 and 102 link Dapoli with Pune. Dapoli is located about 220 km from Mumbai and 185 km from Pune. MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) buses daily ply to Dapoli from chief destinations in western Maharashtra and Konkan such as Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, etc. One can also use the private luxury buses operated from Mumbai and Pune or rent a cab.

From Mumbai to Dapoli there are three routes to reach:
1. Pune to Dapoli via Tamhini Ghat(200 km): Pune - Chandani Chauk - Paud - Mulshi - Dongarwadi - Tamhini Ghat - Vile - Nijampur - Mangaon - Lonere Phata - Goregaon - Ambet - Mhapral - Shenale - Mandangad - Dapoli.

2. Pune to Dapoli via Mahabaleshwar(235 km): Pune - Shirur Panchgani - Mahabaleshwar - Poladpur - Bharna Naka - Khed - Furus - Wakawali - Dapoli.
3. Pune to Dapoli via Bhor Ghat(185 km): Pune - Khed Shivapur - Bhor - Varandha Ghat - Latwan - Dapoli.

How to reach by Train:
1. Mumbai - Khed Station (via Konkan Railway)
2. Khed Station - Dapoli (29 km) (via private transport – jeeps, etc. / state transport - ST buses)
